About Kirstin Novak

Kirstin Novak has been creating all her life. She received a Bachelor of Fine Art degree in Visual Communications from Washington University in St. Louis. After college, she worked as a graphic designer and later as an art director for a handful of design studios and advertising agencies before owning her own design business. Later, she began teaching graphic design and game art courses at the college level, winning the “Faculty of the Year” award from Westwood College in 2008.

Today, Kirstin is a regionally known, award-winning pastel artist. Her work is selected yearly for several juried art exhibitions, most notably: “Visions of the Flint Hills”, “Symphony in the Flint Hills”, “Heartland Artist Exhibition”, “Stems, A Garden Soiree” and “Overland Park Juried Exhibition”. She is a member of the Mid-America Pastel Society and her work can be found in both private and corporate collections and in several galleries in the Kansas City area, Topeka and Council Grove, KS.

Kirstin’s favorite subject remains the Flint Hills of Kansas. “The Kansas landscape possesses rich colors and forms waiting to be celebrated in art. As a pastel artist, it is my desire to bring those colors and forms to life, hoping to instill an appreciation of the Kansas landscape in all who view my work.”
